I remember seeing a recipe for this a couple of months ago, and I fancy giving it a try.

Has anyone made it? Is it worth doing? And if it is, please post a link to recipe you use. TIA

Sounds vile. got a recipe for scones made with sr flour, lemonade and cream though (never tried it!)

Yeah, it does sound a bit vile, but if it really is fizzy, my DS would love it. wink

wouldn't the fizzy go on baking?

cornsilk Sun 07-Feb-10 20:36:40

I have to make that. Ds will love me forever.

Thanks, Trinity. I'll save that recipe.

Cornsilk, I'm not going to have time to make it until next weekend, but if you want to give it a go, I'd love to get your feedback.

Cyb, I'm not sure if the fizz does go when it's baked, because the recipe I saw called it "fizzy orange cake" rather than Fanta cake.

I'll post back here when I've made it. Who knows - it may be so good that it will overtake Mars's LDC in the mumsnet cake league!

I think me and ds may give it a whiz.

2 eggs 275g plain flour 2 tsp baking powder 150ml cooking oil 175g caster sugar 150ml fizzy orange of your choice 2 tbsp of icing sugar for the top of the cake

Preheat the oven to 200oC
Grease a Swiss roll tin
Put all the ingredients except icing sugar into a large mixing bowl
Beat the mixture using a wooden spoon until there is no lumps left
Pour mixture into the greased tin and spread it out evenly using a spatula
Cook for 20 minutes until golden brown
Remove from oven with oven gloves and allow to cool
Sieve the icing sugar over the cake and cut into slices
