What can I do with a chicken breast?

Sensible answers only, please

I've got a skinless chicken breast for dd's tea, and I'm completely out of inspiration for what to do with it. I'd usually wrap it in foil with some veggies - any other suggestions?

What else do you have to go with it? And how old is your DD... can't remember! Was going to suggest cutting it into strips/chunks. coating with flour/polenta and frying.

cut it into strips. roll it in ketchup, then roll it in crushed crisps. then grill for 10-15 minutes.

chop it into bite size pieces, then dip it in flour, followed by egg, followed by breadcrumbs. fry in oliver oil or butter. you can serve it with homemade chips, or pitta bread, & any veg you fancy. in fact, that's what ds is having tonight!

There are worse suggestions I can think of ... unfortunately I only want to cook it

Casserole it with the veggies? Too hot for casserole really.

She's 4, SD - got most things in the house, except inspiration!

beat it flat, marinade in lime juice and maybe some chillis (if she likes spicy) then grill

cut into chunks, dip into beaten egg then into crushed cornflakes, bake in oven 15mins one side, 5 mins other .. voila home-made nuggets

mince it with egg and breadcrumbs and make chicken meatballs / burgers?

cut a pocket and fill with cream cheese, cover in bacon and wrap in foil

oh I dunno

I like the idea of dipping it into crushed cornflakes, Twiglett, but I think the only cereals I have in the house at the mo are Cheerios and Weetabix ... would Weetabix do the same thing?

corn - wheat - what's the difference

Report
WigWamBam · 21/06/2005 16:41

Not much difference at all. I'd crush the Cheerios as well, if I thought they wouldn't make such a lot of mess!

Does she know what the different spices are? Get her stood up on a chair in the kitchen and ask her what she wants to do with it. Would that work or would that be to much hassle? Did this with friends 6 year old and it worked very well. Chopped it up and did it in the wok with some noodles. Although that could just have been the novelty of being round at my house for tea (his mum says that he wants to marry me when he is grown up)

Chicken stir-fry it is ... she's helped me chop the veggies and chosen the spices; now to see if she turns her nose up at the finished article!
