Must I use creme fraiche only or can I use greek yoghurt instead?

Just made a broccoli & cheese soup. Recipe says to stir in creme fraiche but I don't have any, can I use greek yoghurt instead? What's the difference anyway? THanks.

Do it. As long as the yoghurt isn't sweetened or strawberry-flavoured.

Thanks TrillianAstra, yes it's plain greek yoghurt.

Yoghurt

Creme fraiche

Both bacterial fermentation of milk, don't really understand the difference.

Yes, it is a dangerous adventure you are embarking on, you'd better let us know you get back safely

I'm sure the suspense has been killing you waiting for this all afternoon.... I have survived the dangerous greek yoghurt expedition and live to tell the tale!
It was delicious. Yummy. DD also loved it and I had an unexpected visitor for lunch and they loved it too (or so they said, anyway!) (and yes, they're both fine still too.) Will definitely be making it again.

Well done

It's definitely easier to only need one kind of fermented milk product in the fridge

Absolutely. Lol @ "fermented milk product".... I'm gonna start writing that on my shopping list instead of yoghurt in memory of this adventure.

OMG - I have just had this dilemma!!

I have made Jamie's MOF Lasagne and the recipe says to use Creme Fraiche on the top but I didn't have enough so I mixed it with some greek yoghurt and spread that on the top. We are yet to eat it.

Who would have thought? Two creme fraiche/yoghurt problems in one day

Just remembered - do not under any circumstances use Fromage Frais! It curdles and goes horrible.

Isn't fromage frais usually flavoured? Wouldn't fancy brocolli, cheese & strawberry soup anyway!

Stirling, how was your lasagne?
