I need to replace an odd shaped cake tin - any idea what it's called if I describe it - badly?

It is round, with a deeper bit round the edge so when it is turned out I can fill the middle bit with fruit & quick-jel & cream to make a flan

But it must have name - any ideas?

Fabster Sun 08-Nov-09 17:54:01

Is this any good?

Fabster Sun 08-Nov-09 17:54:41

Or this?

Fabster Sun 08-Nov-09 17:55:54

For making jellies

When I google flan tin I get the sort with the fluted edges

Those just aren't it

There is cake all under the fruit & a little wall of cake round the edge

Fabster Sun 08-Nov-09 18:08:18

Have you checked my suggestions?

Katymac Sun 08-Nov-09 18:12:43

They had (as far as I could see) an actual hole in the centre, but I could be wrong

The wall bit was also curved at the top rather than a flat wall bit

Katymac Sun 08-Nov-09 18:16:18

If you pour water into it you would start off witha moat & eventually get a lake

Thanks btw - I know I'm not doing this very well

TheCheeseAlarm Sun 08-Nov-09 18:19:01

one of these? flan tin

catinthehat2 Sun 08-Nov-09 18:25:03

If you flipped CheeseALarm's tin , you would get the moat to lake effect. But what amount of grease would you have to drop into the moat bit to extract the sponge walls intact I wonder?

Katymac Sun 08-Nov-09 18:25:07

That is very nearly the right shape

Now I just need a silicon or non-stick one

'Indented flan tin' - not what I would have called it

Katymac Sun 08-Nov-09 18:26:05

Catinthehat - That is why silicon or nonstick blush mine never comes out anymore

catinthehat2 Sun 08-Nov-09 18:33:07

flan tin GOLD

Katymac Sun 08-Nov-09 18:38:41

I found this one - it is hard to choose

Fabster Sun 08-Nov-09 18:44:51

Can you put a pic on your profile of what you are trying to replace?

Katymac Sun 08-Nov-09 18:52:59

I'll get the loose bottom one I found - once I knew what to look for

Thanks everyone - MN triumphed again grin
