soup?

I have just cooked a bacon joint in my slow cooker, i put it on a bed of onion and added 1/4 pint water and was wondering if there was anything i could make with the juices that are left or is it best to just throw it away?

i've not yet successfully made soup with bacon stock - mine always seems too fatty or salty which always makes me angry as i'd like to use it (i always use chicken carcass for a quick stock and want to do same with bacon)

but if you leave to cool overnight and then skim fat off, taste to see if not too salty. if not too salty then it would be great for minestrone or pea or lentil soup.
