It will be overdone I think if you cook it for nearly 4 hrs !

It will benefit from the extra time - the flavours will have time to develop.

Just make sure it's piping hot all the way through when you serve it.

I'm not sure what you mean by red cabbage and apple (is it in the same pan) If so then imo it will be much better to just do it at 5pm. It won't take much cooking will it even if you do it fresh? Also afaik the vitamin content will be higher if it's not left for hours after being cooked.

lol! 2 totally different answers!

I wasn't going to cook it for 4hrs, was going to turn it off and reheat?

Oooh. I lurve red cabbage. Can I come to tea please?

IMO, the longer you cook it, the better. I do a whole cabbage and freeze it in batches. Yum.

Red cabbage and apple is a dish that is better cooked long and slow, unlike green/whie/savoy cabbage.

(But not for four houjrs!)

yum... red cabbage is always best left cooking slowly and even nicer the next day.

I soooo agree with Inghouls2.

I lurve red cabbage and apple. Have put sultanas in too before now.
