Nothing can beat my 2 minute wonder.

I packet microwave rice. I tin sweet corn. 1 large handful frozen peas. Some cooked chicken or ham or some other proteiny leftovers.

Do rice. Boil peas, chuck in sweetcorn to heat.

Put all in bowl.

Serve.

seeker ..put a cream sauce on and you have chicken a la king

seeker Tue 06-Oct-09 15:20:03

Ah, but if I did that I'd have to use a packet sauce to do it in the time. My one is ^completely home made!^

seeker Tue 06-Oct-09 15:20:22

Oh why can't I do italics??

PVish Tue 06-Oct-09 15:28:09

have got a copy and my main niggle is that a lot of the recipes are more snack-like than main meals - eg one is soup. Some good ideas though and lots of fish which I always mean to cook more often.

Ooh that looks good. Would be good to have 5 minute meals which aren't pasta or stir fry based.

My 5 minute special is:

Stir fry red onion and chopped turkey breast for couple mins. Add 2 tablespoon Sainsbo Nasi Goreng paste and chopped chili (or teaspoon chili paste) and fry. 2 packets of super noodles (but not with the flavour sachet) on top, add 500ml chicken stock (knorr stock pot). Quarter a lime and add. Put lid on a cook on med for 4 mins. Yummy.

This is my failsafe dish I cook when I get in from work and am so tired I want to yell swear words. Either that or the indian takeaway.

GetOrfMoiLand Wed 07-Oct-09 12:35:22

I have never ever bought Good Housekeeping. Is a milestone?

largeginandtonic Wed 07-Oct-09 12:41:11

Kale and anchovy pasta does sound nice. Have lots of Kale atm, seems to be in the vege box every week.

Will look out for it.

ConFuschias Wed 07-Oct-09 12:43:08

agree re veg box and kale - would be good to have new recipes to use it in

overmydeadbody Wed 07-Oct-09 12:44:17

GetOrf I have never bought it either.

Presumably any adult with a bit of life experience who has cooked for a few years has a selection of meals they can make in minutes?

overmydeadbody Wed 07-Oct-09 12:46:43

my meal in minutes:

toast two slices of bread per person

fry two eggs per person

heat up tin of baked beans

Serve. Possibly with grated cheese and ketchup.

ConFuschias Wed 07-Oct-09 12:47:04

GetOrf, I do shudder at the thought of buying it too. Think it will make me feel middle-aged.

overmydeadbody Wed 07-Oct-09 12:50:29

Porridge. There's another meal in minutes.

largeginandtonic Wed 07-Oct-09 13:47:06

Good Housekeeping is fab, the Xmas edition is something to behold grin
