What veg do you think 'goes' with Toad in the Hole?

I do not cook any side veg with it but usually serve it with a "giant" salad and italian dressing. goes down very well here!

Cabbage, usually. Anything dark green and slathered in gravy! Carrots could go well too.

We had salad with burgers last night so can't do that again. Don't have cabbage as I sliced it up for coleslaw but I cna do peas and courgettes....

Do the courgettes... salt them before cooking, rinse off the fluid that comes out, then saute them really slowly in some olive oil with a bit of garlic... truly scrumptious!

DH hates onions and so does DD1 so I never bother, but FIL will eat it so I can make it! (even though I am not having any as I am on a diet...)

Well exactly colditz.

TBH if I serve it normally it gets peas mixed into baked beans and that's it. It doesn't work with veg at all unless you roast it with the sausies and slather it in batter too.

carrots beoccoli, swede, onions, butternut squash, peas

a tray of roasted veg (but not tomato or aubergine) goes down well, especially if you're serving it all with onion gravy

Salad just doesn't go, unless it is served first, as a starter.

Caugettes are just too watery.

I am pleased to say that I have never eaten a quorn sausage in my life, and hope to keep it that way.

A sausage is a MEAT product.

Fine if you want to be veggie, but why try to pretend you're eating meat if you are not?

TBH I'd be happy with just the yorkshire pud, veg and onion gravy. But non-meat sausages ???? [shakes head slowly in dis-belief]

Clumsymum, I am not from 'round here . In our house we have to cater for various origines: North Africa, Italy, Switzerland for Dh and I but Dcs are British hence the unusual combination! You should try at least once, be adventurous!

God, I am dribbling for toad in the hole now. Only mine would be the quorn veggie version, sorry. With roast carrots and parsnips, broccoli, peas, and onion gravy...

Sorry gorionine, but as a yorkshire woman, I really do struggle with the idea of salad to accompany a yorkshire pud based product just seems peculiar. Plus, the onion gravy would made the salad sag a bit, surely
