Say if you are cooking meat, potatoes and 2 sorts of veg, if carrots were one of the veg how many would you cook per person?
Length/ width of carrot?Little & thin: not more than 1.5Long and thick: just 1?
One Morrison's average if with annother veg, 2 if alone.
For my DCs (well the ones that will eat carrot) I give them about 6 pieces which is probably about the equivalent of one large carrot. For adults probably 2 or 3 largeish carrots. For DS1 one tiny piece.
2 or 3 large carrots? That's about 20+ pieces of carrot... surely no one eats that much + another veg?
Hmm.... maybe they do?Carrot Portion Sizes
OK here's another ouple of carrot questions for you.Do you chop the bottom end off and throw it away or do you eat it?Do you peel them before you chop them or just wash them?
1 is plenty, unless they're really wee.top and tail (cut off both ends), peel, and slice into batons.
nappy... is this the first time you've ever cooked carrots??
No cooked them lots before. I love cooking but hate preparing everything first so trying to cut down on that part!!
I've already got the mashed potato just right Wash under hot tap, quarter them, boil and mash. Simple!! I used to hate doing mash before cos I thought you had to peel them and chop them up quite small.
BTW am amazed that people eat 3 carrots each!! We have 1 medium sized potato, 1 carrot and 1/2 cup of peas each and that's plenty.
