Popcorn!

A little while ago DD and a few pals appeared in my house searching nibbles. We don't have many snacky foods in because DH can't resist them... but he's never noticed the innocent little bag of popping corn lurking in the cupboard

It has to be about the easiest crowd pleaser going, and healthier than crisps etc.

just 1/4 cup in a large bowl, cover with a splatter guard, nuke for a couple of mins, scoop out popped corns, nuke again for another min to get most of the rest done.

You don't need oil. You certainly don't need brown paper bags which seem to figure in all the online recipes I've seen.

Just a bit of salt. (or on my serving pepper and parmesan cheese. Guiltless yum!)

Wow - good to know you can nuke it without doing anything fancy to it.

I keep buying the microwave bags of popcorn for the dc but shall just look for the popping corn now.

Thanks

Gosh Popcorn is fantastic! I went through a spell of pure popcorn in my teens when it was all I would eat with various flavourings I made myself..but you really cant go wrong with a sprinkle of salt and knob of butter Yum

Did you microwave it?

I would do mine on the hob..but didn't have a non-stick pan so you just put a little oil in the pan and make sure each kernel is coated

Oh yes, DD's love popcorn, we even have a special popcorn bowl for it, a round one with a vent and a lid (that fits on properly, v important)
Don't need anything on it but I stick a load of salt in my bowl just because I can.
Plus it only uses a teeny amount for 2 massive bowls. Genius.

I do it them and then put a bit of melted butter and golden syrup quickly boiled together over it all to make toffee flavour.
