quick jam making question

For some reason I got home last night with a load of on the turn strawberries and was inspired to make jam for the first time.

How long should I leave it before using and how long will it keep for?

It will be OK to eat straight away, should keep for up to a year or so.

Thanks - wasn't sure if it needed to 'mature'. It looks the part - here's hoping it tastes it!
