Please help me- I think I have made a promise I can't keep!

Promised bf I would bake him a birthday cake.
When he was a kid his favourite thing was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I want to do a cake with a face on the top.

Firstly- I have never baked a cake. But I reckon I can bake some sort of victoria sponge, that's not so hard...right?!?!

But how do I ice it? How long do I leave it for before I ice it? How long will it last for? If I use ready rolled icing to ice it white, what do I put on top to make the face?

Thank you in advance for the help! So many questions...

When do you need it by?

Do you have a cake shop need you, not talking about a bakery either a proper cake makers shop?

You will need I am guessing white for all over the cake, rolling pin, light green and dark green for the face as well as maybe black for other parts.

You will need to wait for the cake to be cold before you ice it.

I have a good recipe for sponge which is good, you want it?? It the recipe i always use.

Do you have sandwhich tine? and a rack?

I'm not a great ckae maker but canknock one out for special occasions .
With aVictoria sponge, the icing is made with icing sugar thinned with water. You can spread or dribble it over the cske. Inside, you put strawberry jam, so it's all pretty easy.

If you want to try and do a face it wouldn't be that tricky as long as you don't need perfection! Get to a library and see if they have any books by Carol Deacon.
Bake a normal sponge cake and then you carve it into the shape you want (have a look at my profile for the carved bit of my lips cake), it doesn't have to look neat, no-one will see this bit. Then spread butter icing over it to glue all teh bits together.
Cover it in a layer of royal icing, you can buy it ready rolled if you want but only in white, so I would get some green food colouring, colour some white icing green and lay it over the face shaped cake, add some black in a recessed bit for a mouth and lay over a strip of other colour for bandana, then stick eyes onto that.

The cartoon wasn't exactly high tech so the cake doesn't have to be
