Damsons - any recipe ideas?

the damson tree in our garden is more or less inaccessible, but as we've had a really good crop this year my husband climbed over the shed to pick them......but now what can i cook with them - ideas please preferrably suitable for a 2 yr & a 6mth old

Obviously not suitable for the children but damson gin is delicious.
Prick damsons all over, put into a large wide necked jar, cover in gin and add as much sugar as you can dissolve (shaking helps) into the gin.
Put in dark cupboard and give a gentle shake occasionally.
Decant the beautiful pink liquid at Christmas (if you can wait 'til then), definitely needs a few months to get best flavour and colour.

Thanks Montifer - it turns out they were actually yellow plums, so we all have stewed plum on our breakfast now

or make jam

it is dead easy as you don't need to stone them, just hoick out the stones with a slotted spoon as they rise to the top

(try Waitrose.com for a good recipe - they use greengages but it's all the same)
