Can I freeze cheesy mash/macaroni cheese/cheese sauce

Spotting a theme here?

I made a wicked cheese sauce, but just cannot bring myself to make it every day for DS. He's finally eating home-cooked stuff, as long as it's encased in cheesy goodness (even fish, woo!)

Hoping I can freeze cheesy mash - I was thinking of making fish pie with sweetcorn or something, with a cheesy mash top in little pots, and freezing it. Assuming this will be OK, but thought i'd better check with those in the know

Macaroni i'm more dubious about, pasta doesn't freeze well does it?
So... can I just make my cheese sauce and freeze that and just whack it over fresh cooked pasta and veg?

Thankee... really would be a major help.

(any other cheese recipe suggestions also gratefully (haha) received)

I've frozen some macaroni cheese (with added brocolli) and it's re-heated up just fine.

Yes to all. As you say sometimes pasta doesn't freeze that well, but it's ok imo.

However as you suggest an alternative may be do freeze some sauce separately. It's only a few minutes to cook the pasta fresh.

How about cheese omelette (if your ds can have egg of course)

I made it for dd2 tonight, she is almost 2. You can add veggies. I stirfried a few strips of pepper (mushroom would be good too). add one beaten egg. Flip over like a pancake to cook both sides. Add a bit of grated cheese - yum

thinking about it, when i've frozen pasta (lasagne DOES NOT work) it's been all mushy and gross - maybe I overcook it. But DS would love the mushyness as he's used to the Hipp jars. (wish to hell I'd done BLW, would hvae made my life SO much easier)

thanks all for your replies - will use my useless expensive Annabel Karmel trays for something helpful for something other than butternut squash.

I always make cheese sauce in large enough quanitities to use one and put two portions in the freezer for quick suppers.

yes you can.

I always cook up big batches of white/cheese sauce and freeze up in portions, it works fine.

Pasta dishes freeze just fine, it's just plain old pasta on it's own that doesn't freeze very well. Basically if it's in an oven dish and can be reheated in the oven then you can freeze it.

Yes you can freeze the sauce and it works fine, you can also freeze your fish pie and cook from frozen as long as its heated through properly. Here's a really good recipe for a quick fish pie, so even if you were pressed for time you could just make it from scratch very quickly - the recipe says use cod but any fish will work, plus its a great way of getting some veggies on the plate too:
