Does anyone know an alternative to Paneer to use in vegetarian kebabs?

I can't get paneer anywhere. Have tried 3 supermarkets and a deli.

Is there anything similar? Would haloumi be similar?

Haloumi is better IMO

halloumi is much better anyway

would have thought paneer was much too soft and cottage-cheesey to put ona stick

feta woul ddo at a pinch

It is very, very easy to make yourself, actually. I did it ages ago, can't find the recipe now but lots on Google.

But I think that the most similar cheese to it would be mozarella (not sure about how vegetarian that is re. rennet).

Or you could probably get away with a firm tofu.

But would second everyone else that for a kebab, you can't beat haloumi!
