it is spaghetti bolognaise, I had cooked the mince, onion and garlic and then realised I had no tom sauce etc, so DH got it while shopping for rabbit food. (along with much wine, but that is a whole other thread!)

anyway..............

I now have flicks of sauce across the kitchen as DD2 keeps irritating her, if DD1 asks for help and I suggest anything, I am worng, and she has now poured half a bottle of red wine in the pan....that can;t be good (or maybe it could)

tell me this is a Good Thing for her to do, that it is an important life skill, or is this actually a VERY. BAD. THING.

I will pray for the repose of your digestive system Psycho!

Well, she could do a damn sight worse for a role model. Jordan for example.

do you have to wash up?

Report
psychomum5 · 28/07/2009 19:39

ah, now the washing up is always taken care of by DH (and the dishwasher) so no to that one.

diff, thanks, I will hold your prayer close...

Brilliant! She can come and cook my tea anytime. How old is she?

Report
psychomum5 · 28/07/2009 19:56

she is 15.

((of course, you might want to ensure I survive this first))

Red wine in bolognese is a good idea, except for the fact that you now have less red wine to drink.

It is a fantastic idea. When she's 16 get her on a rota and make her cook dinner once a week.

Jus' poppin' by to say hello to you, Trillian and Flame, ackchewally. Haven't seen you 'round much lately. Haven't seen anyone 'round much lately - back at work....... . How's y'all doin'?

Psycho - are you alive?

Report
TrillianAstra · 29/07/2009 09:59

Poisoned with butter for interfering too much, obviously.

Hi Pol!

Report
psychomum5 · 29/07/2009 11:23

sorry for not coming back, I was not poisoned, just got waylaid by life and then DD3 started throwing up everywhere and has been up all night with poorly pooh too ((nothing to do with DD1 and her cooking I hasten to add as she didn;t want any due not already feeling ill)).

the food was lovely, but her cooking did not also mean dishing up and clearing up, or even doing anything more than make the sauce in fact. BUT, it was good, everyone who did eat had seconds, and the sauce left over has been frozen in enough of a portion to feed me if the rest of the family want something I am allergic to.

we just now need to get her to meal plan once a week, and used to doing all of it (ie, the pasta....she forgot about that and then panicked!)

am running away again now......DS1 has broken his brace so am off to the brace clinic to get that fixed, then am playing nurse again all day for DD3, who is really not well.

Hiya Pol

It tasted, erm, interesting when I went round at about 7pm. That was after much tom purée and basil, but before the red wine

Red wine improves everything, I find

All sympathy to DD3, Psycho - DDs 1 and 2 were throwing up everywhere last Wed night (including in my bed - thanks DD2!). Then DH got it on Fri, and he's still not right. He was the one clearing it off the beds mind you, so I reckon he got well exposed. DD3 has avoided it so far [fingers crossed emoticon]

psychomum5 · 29/07/2009 11:29

the red wine helped lots

she is still claiming to has also put in the fish spices, not sure whether to believe her or not.....oh, I did put in more garlic and tabasco, maybe that was what masked it all in the end

right, really am running now!!

Tabasco? Too much of that and you'll end up making chilli.

Sorry you've all got illnesses.

I think it's great that DD1 is learning to cook, and not just fun cooking but actual 'making meals' cooking. I didn't kno much at all when I started uni, and neitherw did most of my friends. Some of them still don't!

Report
differentID · 29/07/2009 14:46

I did wonder if you were still alive.

Sorry dd3 is poorly, has she been feeling iffy since the end of hols?

If dd1 complains about doing the dinner, tell her you are teaching her an important life skill!
