Lemon Meringue Pie

I want to lemon meringue pie but I don't have a pie dish. I thought we had one but it turns out it was our old flatmates.

So can I make it in a cake tin or will it not work?

Have you a dinner plate with slightly sloped sides. We cover one with foil and it makes a mean apple pie. It might be a bit shallow - but may be worth a try?
