What are the curly noodles you get in a chow mein?

do you mean you want to recreate the dish at home?

I think you need Sharwoods fine egg noodles, it's a bit tricky to deep fy them at home as they burn easily but if you're determined you could do it by putting them in boiling water for 2 minutes, rinsing them in cold water and spreading them on a tea towel to dry, breaking them up a bit and then deep frying them in a wok in small batches

or is that TMI

I brought dp a vesta packet meal the other day...I used to eat them before I turned vegetarian 17 years ago and had been reminicing about them and said youve GOT to try this....I saved a few of the crispy noodles so I could do my own last night and it was lovely.
I dont fancy having to pay 1.60 just so I can nick a few noodles to recreate my vege version! So are the egg ones what I need?

oh the vesta chow mein ones, that used to curl up in shallow fat in a frying pan....Hmmmmmmmm

well then they won'e work, I don't know what they would be called, sorry can't help you

So they still do Vesta meals?

Just called crispy noodles. You can get them in some supermarkets along with prawn crackers. The noodles tend to be little rectangular 'plastic' looking chips whereas the prawn crackers are uneven greyish white.

Trying to remember the brand - Blue Dragon maybe?
