It's bad isn't it? Tell me it's not that bad. Just occasionally?

So in case you haven't seen whinging threads I have had tonisilitis this week, DD was sick weds, I had to look after her Thurs and today DH was sent home from work with possible swine man flu.

I am absolutely exhausted, but I went to sainsbos for sympathy ice cream for me and DH (helps my throat). Anyway for easiness sake I picked up for DD (2 years old) some - no, I can't say it, some...

...oven chips, and fish fingers, and (it gets worse), chicken nuggets and they weren't even Bird's Eye (well, the fish fingers were, I have standards!).

It's just DH and I feel so shit, but DD still needs to eat. I would never normally buy these things, in fact I haven't bought oven chips or chicken nuggets since uni. Are they ok in moderation? I know I should be making my own chicken nuggets from chicken breast and bread crumbs, but I really can't, not at the moment. Tell me I'm not a bad mother. But please don't tell to get over myself. I could take it in good humour any other time, just now right now

My dd won't eat anything that isn't covered in orange crumb so don't feel too bad. I stuff her with fruit to make up for the shit dinners though. I threatened to roll her in orange crumb recently but it didn't deter her...

McCain Straight cut Oven chips = potato (95%), sunflower oil (5%).

No additives, and certainly no worse for you than a jacket potato with butter and cheese.

Thank you for not judging me or berating me! Sleepycat, if only it were that easy! DD won't touch anything green, my saving grace for getting veg into her is pureed veg and tomato pasta sauce! Fortunately she loves fruit.

It's so hard to get perspective on this sort of thing, what with the mumsnet influence and yummy mummy friends. I was bought up on chicken nuggets, oven chips and white bread! And I'm fine, well, apart from the tonsilitis. Oh and I am just eating my second tub of Hagan Daaz ( for my throat).

Seriously?!?

Have you honestly got your child to 2 years of age without recourse to a fish finger?

It's a bit of cod, for heaven's sake, not crack cocaine.

She's had fish fingers before, TBH she's not fussed with them (they are for DH and I) but I never normally buy that sort of food, as a routine anyway. Don't get me wrong, we sometimes have Domino's and fish and chips which, DD loves, and she has sausages and stuff, and she likes to eat ketchup with a spoon

So I'm not a complete obsessive, but usually she just has what we are eating and we don't really eat that sort of food.

Ok, I'm not really going overboard with the paranoia, I'm embellishing for mumsnet purposes (a little). But I am feeling a teeny bit guilty, mostly about the chicken nuggets, they've got added salt and water which normally makes me . I just feel that I should be serving DD wholesome stews and home made wholemeal scones, and lentil bakes and stuff.

I just wanted reassurance that this sort of food is ok in moderation, and clearly it is . Don't want to offend anyone, like I said, it is easy to lose perspective.

if you're not well, then just do what you can - a month of nuggets won't hurt her, she'll be absolutely fine
