aspirational toileteries and all.

I wanted Bicks sweetcorn relish ( mm)
no they dont sell it
nor " monster crackin'" blush ice cream topping

AND for my nigella ( no less) rocky road i wanted "fake cherries" ( ™ my brother) glace cherries and had to have dark red ones " from Provence"

i mean theres poncery and there is NOT giving the customer what she wants.

All their Cooks ingredients stuff is wildly overprice just because the lemon juice comes from Sicily, what's wrong with Jif I say? And it's also very poncey.... a handful of blah blah, and a sprinkling of blah blah indeed.

Still I do love Waitrose so I'll forgive them.

go to Iceland then

Simples Sat 11-Jul-09 14:57:56

GOD yes
i got some mini masrhsmallows in there - £1 50 for about 50g
Tesco got me 300g for the same price

MaryAnnSingleton Sat 11-Jul-09 14:59:32

Simples, it's simple - shop elsewhere - Waitrose is for indulgence (and how I love it !)

Simples Sat 11-Jul-09 14:59:35

no that would condone the lifestyle of one Miss "kerry Katona"

MaryAnnSingleton Sat 11-Jul-09 15:00:13

sadly a new Iceland has opened in my town and I refuse to go in

Simples Sat 11-Jul-09 15:00:42

Lol.I haev never been into one.

Simples Sat 11-Jul-09 15:01:28

I am worryingly bowled over by the hype that is the essentials range though and tried ice tea in there
god that is FOUL isnt it?

MaryAnnSingleton Sat 11-Jul-09 15:03:20

they've changed the Waitrose tissues and made them essentials range, but they aren't as nice, for some reason.
I just like Waitrose for making me feel better, despite having to part with more cash.

BecauseImWorthIt Sat 11-Jul-09 15:04:01

Don't normally shop at Waitrose because we don't have one near here, but when I was in Kingston I popped in to buy some stuff for lunch. Bought some posh Wensleydale and Lancashire cheese, and both DH and I agreed that it doesn't taste as nice the the ordinary, cheapo stuff I normally buy!

(Pleb tastes, obviously)

<waves to MAS - how are you?>

Simples Sat 11-Jul-09 15:04:05

But if i were to shop online its tesco.

moondog Sat 11-Jul-09 15:05:25

OOOh I'd murder for a Waitrose. envy

For ponciness, nowt worse than supermarkets in Bangladesh.Such is the surplus of labour that one person (with whistle and glo-sticks) ushers you into parking place, another escorts you over the road, bollocking rickshaw drivers, another opens the door, another tries to wrestle the trolley from you (to push) and every aisle is policed by a spruced up gent holding up a product with his head cocked to one side saying

'Madam, have you tried the very latest imported Lindt chocolate which is only £300 for 250 g?'
I tell you, it is exhausting fending off that much 'help'.Makes me feel like Liz Taylor.

MaryAnnSingleton Sat 11-Jul-09 15:05:34

hi BIWI ! am fine thank you - only 2 more radiotherapy blasts to go smile

AllBuggiedOut Sat 11-Jul-09 15:05:57

Can you find Bicks anywhere, Simples? Last thing I heard they were having distribution problems in the UK and I'm missing my burger relish!

Simples Sat 11-Jul-09 15:06:27

oh good for you MAS, do you have a treat to look forward to after each one? AN uced bun or somesuch?!

Simples Sat 11-Jul-09 15:06:36

iced obv

Simples Sat 11-Jul-09 15:06:51

I presumed tesco would have it

MrsSeanBean Sat 11-Jul-09 15:07:19

Waitrose have bowed to recession and started a 'Waitrose essentials' range. Their version of Tesco 'value' I guess, but it looks (and tastes) much better.

AllBuggiedOut Sat 11-Jul-09 15:07:39

Certainly not round us :-(

UnquietDad Sat 11-Jul-09 15:07:50

They do it because they are By Ponces, For Ponces.

MaryAnnSingleton Sat 11-Jul-09 15:08:01

the hospital shop has Caramacs which I am quite keen on and yesterday I had a Wagon Wheel !

MaryAnnSingleton Sat 11-Jul-09 15:11:26

Waitrose used to do a totally wonderful prawn cottage cheese (really) but it is no more
things in Waitrose that I love
rubber gloves (pack of 2)
nice anchovies
better fruit than Sainsbury's
lambs lettuce
creme caramels
ds likes the Berliners from the bakery
nice shower gel
the kitchen roll with coffee pots etc on
their tiny things of sliced chorizo
( I am sad really to take pleasure in such simple things !)

JulesJules Sat 11-Jul-09 15:14:41

Oooo Caramacs [dribble]

MrsSeanBean Sat 11-Jul-09 15:15:30

May I add to the list frozen cherry tomato and gruyere tartlets? (Somehow, a frozen ready meal is less naff from Waitrose wink )
