My son is being Christened on Sunday - yes this one coming - and we've decided to do a BBQ instead of traditional finger buffet.

Now, i'm looking for recipes for potato salads, pasta salads etc to go with the BBQ food.

I've got a load of basic recipes but fancied something with a little more colour / flavour / imagination!

We've got approx 60 adults and 40 kids coming so they need to be versitile!

Oh and any other ideas etc you may have for me please say, my mind has gone blank!!!

We do basic potato salad, tabbouleh, roast veggies and halloumi (either do this in a big dish or as kebabs-onions, peppers, cherry toms, mushrooms etc), feta and beetroot salad and a green salad as our failsafes. At one party we did pear, blue cheese and walnut salad that was gobbled up. At ds' birthday bbq it was the cheese and pinapple on sticks that went fastest

For BBqs I make lots of salads and have loads of baguettes and posh crisps. Salads I've done have been Jamie Oliver's couscous salad, Nigella's New Orleans coleslaw, potato salads of various types (this thread had some good ideas), and some green salads.

For puddings I have done brownies, fruit salad, pavlova, key lime pie, cheesecake.

I always end up overcatering for large groups so don't go OTT unless you know there some big eaters coming.

I'm sorry but your nonchalance at catering for 100 people in 5 days without any prior planning has just gobsmacked impressed me

Small potatoes, sliced into and smeared with garlic and salt, plus olive oil or butter on them and then baked in the oven are very tasty.

Sorry, meant to say that they should be wrapped in foil.

Thanks so much to you all so far i'll be planning it all when kids in bed!
TheProvincialLady - 45 are family so we're all used to catering for large numbers, guess i just need to pretty much double quantities!!!
My best friend makes cakes so that side of it is covered!
Just wanted to do something different as we always seem to do the same food - especially when we get togther so many times a year!!!
Keep the ideas coming ladies - i've got lots of mouths to feed lol!!!
Thanks again xxxx
