I purchased this book today, and I'd appreciate some suggestions on what I should cook/bake first.

I've made hokey pokey before, and the caramel croissant pudding, both of which were gorgeous, but I'd love to know which of the other recipes are worth making.

Thankyou in advance.

Popular ones in my house are:

  • curry in a hurry and variations of
  • blackberry crisp but do add a splodge of golden syrup to it
  • the apple tart - i add a little cinammon

The cherry cheesecake is to die for
And the quesadillas are lovely and really tasty, suprisingly more than the sum of the individual parts

The goujons are great and freeze well - but label clearly. They tend to look like breadcrumbs but don't have quite the right effect when added to the onion sauce on Chistmas Day....

Also the nectarine and blueberry tart is dead easy and very impressive.

Chicken noodle soup for needy people also a winner

banana and butterscotch muffins are good - my sister sent me the butterscotch chips form states, but I've also made them with white choc and plain choc chips, - yummy. The pear and ginger muffins are good too, and the rocky road and the choc chip cookies and the breakfast bars. We also eat the lamb ragu recipe, chicken cacciatora and the burgers on a regular basis- For the burgers I fry an onion and let it cool instead of the onion mush - Love this book - Good luck

Blackberry crisp is fab - and is good with other fruit too. I often do it with a bag of frozen berries that I just blitz in the microwave for a few minutes first. In fact, I don't do it at all - dd2 makes it.

mini meatloaves, i have made them with all sorts of things, bulgar wheat insteads of oats, turkey mince etc. i also tend to use a bit less sausage to make them not so fatty.

and i am addicted to the gammon with parsley and vinegar.

The pear and ginger muffins are great - the lamb ragu, chicken cacciatore, minestrone and coq au riesling are all avourites in our house too.

We have the Thai curry regularly and the pea and pesto soup is good too.

Has anybody made the potato and mushroom gratin? I quite fancy that.

Instant chocolate mousse is very popular here as is the pear and chocolate pudding. Also the caramel croissant thingy.

Perhaps it time I tried something savoury?

I am a sucker for cookery books. Have this one. Never touch any of them. All my recipes come off the internet.

It seems easier to google what you have in the fridge than to buy stuff to fit in with a recipe in a book.

The rocky road is lush. And the turkey and dill thing is lovely with the piquant broccoli. And the poussin is such a nifty, easy idea.

Made the breakfast bars today and although they taste nice, I must have done something wrong as they are a bit sticky. Less like bars....more like oaty goo............

Pear & ginger muffins gorgeous, the only muffins I've ever made that looked like 'proper' muffins from the shop iyswim!

Instant pancake mix a fantastic standby, DD adores them.

Sticky sausages in the Christmas chapter are v. moreish.

Baileys Tiramisu is apparently gorgeous, I made it for a party at Christmas and it went so fast I never actually got to taste it!
