Best picnic chicken

I'm having a birthday picnic in the park. I thought baking up some trays of chicken drumsticks to eat cold would be a good idea.

There will be parents and toddlers mainly, so I need soemthing little ones would like - which is probably just plain chicken, isn't it?

But what about the adults? What can I give them that would be really scrumptious?

I was thinking of a yogurt, mint and lemon marinade, but would like more options and preferably something tried and tested.

I'm going to do up a couple of salads too. Exactly what will depend on the chicken recipe but probably a greenish salad and a potato one.

I think there's a recipe in Nigella Express for chicken thighs and spare ribs done in maple syrup and apple juice. It has some other spices in too but you could leave them out if you felt that some of the children might be put off - or do two batches, one more spiced than the other? Potato salad with it would be great.

Nigella Express also has a great recipe for chicken marinated in buttermilk which is very yummy.

Hmm.. I wonder which is more child-friendly?

I think kids would like both. Buttermilk, despite the sound of it is fairly low-fat if that makes a difference!
