Just how long is 'overnight'

I hate the inexactness of this word! I'm soaking fruit for a tealoaf, and planning to make it this afternoon. - is 6 hours enough? Or will I have less-than-perfectly plump fruit?

overnight means anything form 6 hrs to 12 hrs, so yes 6 hrs should be fine!
