i've read in several places online and in babycare/feeding books i have that its okay to feed sardines to a 10 month old. has anyone else done this? any tips for preparing them? (it says on the tin of sardines that it contains small bones, i know sardines are small fish, so do i remove those bones? (i dont eat fish!)
thanks! :D

fish is good, however, i would never give any fish that contains small bones like what sardines do personally, as im far too paranoid on him chocking on one of the tiny bones, it may be easy to miss,

they do tend to try to take the bones out of them but due to the fact that they are such small bones, they could easily be missed, and unless you want to spend ages sifting through it to make sure there arent any, it isnt worth it!!

an adult probably wouldnt even notice and eat the small bone but personally i wouldnt want to risk it with a 10mth old

the bones are soft, just mash the sardines and it will be fine. mien love them in tomato sauce

They will be fine - the bones are really easy to remove as its generally the whole backbone bit that just comes out - i always just scrape it off.

Sardines are really really good for them with all the oils in them etc....

:nods: thanks all... i haven't tried them yet, i dont think i've ever even seen a sardine! but will remember to pull off the backbone and any other little bones i see.
whenever i give him cod (or other fish) i spend an age (or as it seems to dh!) sifting thru the fish for bones!
