What will they be eating for lunch? If it's a big cooked meal I'd judt do something that can be eaten cold like quiche and salad and crusty bread. If lunch is something light I'd do somethign more substantial.
I agree with OverMyDeadBody. Breads, cheese, grapes etc, picky things like olives and crisps (because even if you're not hungry it's sometimes nice to pick at stuff). If you must do something hot, a couple of big quiches would be great.
The good thing about quiche is it can be made and left for people to eat when they want as it is nice at room temperature
What about some pizza in reserve as well? Also good at room temperature.Think your DH might be onto something though
