making choc fondue as dessert for romantic meal for DH and I on Friday.

Most recipes suggest adding double cream to the melted chocolate which just sounds like calorie overload to me. Do I really need to add it? would creme fraiche work?

Also roughly how much chocolate for 2 people do you think?

yes but you could add a low fat single cream.

There is no way to make a chocolate fondue anything but a calorie fest. Sadly.

I wouldn't say cream is essential although normally you use something to tone down the chocalate a little ... but they all tend to be equally hardcore - cream, butter etc! grin

I'd agree with Kay, use low fat single cream. One large bar of dark chocolate would do you probably - but be prepared to lick the bowl (obviously there's ways to work that into the romantic portion of the evening.... wink)

Me neither Jean, its going to be a experiment! Someone gave us a chocolate fondue set ages ago so might dig that out, i read somewhere you need to keep it warm (eg put tealight underneath) else the chocolate will set.

Going to do strawberries, bananas, raspeberries ad amaretti biscuits with it.

Will give single cream ago then thank you ladies and work the calories off later wink
