Tortilla wraps, hot and cold ideas needed please.

I have a packet of tortilla wraps.
Not really got any ideas of what to put in them!
Either hot for dinners or cold for lunches.

Have had fajitas before and DS's love them. DD's don't. Probably too spicy for them.

TIA for any ideas.

you can also use them for puddings with fruit and ice cream/choclate sauce - like you would crepes or pancakes.

My fave use for them is fish burritos.

Blend to a paste 50g coriander, 2 tsp paprika, 1 tsp cumin, 1 small red chilli, 1 tsp sea salt, pepper, zest of 1 lime, 80 ml olive oil. Put 750g white fish cut in strips into a bowl and add paste. Leave to marinade for half an hour.

Peel a cucumber, remove seeds and slice. Add to a bowl with 250g halved cherry toms, 4 sliced spring onions, handful of coriander leaves, 1 tsp lime, 1 small red chill seeded and sliced finely, 1 tsp sea salt, 1 tsp caster sugar.

Add 250g mayo to a bowl with finely grated zest 1 lime, 2 tbsp lime juice, 1 tsp sea salt.

Heat a frying pan and add some of fish in a single layer, cook for 2 mins. Turn and cook on other side for 1 min. Remove from pan and continue until all fish has been cooked.

While fish is cooking wrap tortillas in foil and warm in overn on 200c for 5 mins.

Place all components on table (including some baby cos lettuce leaves) and allow people to make up their burritos.

They are absolutely delicious. A big favourite in our house.

My favourite is mushroom and sweetcorn filling - fry up a chilli, half an onion sliced fine, a thinly sliced pepper, some sliced mushrooms and some sweetcorn. When cooked, add a squeeze of lime and some finely chopped coriander. You could take the chilli out if you want to make it less spicy for the kids.

Pile into tortillas with some grated cheese, sour cream and guacamole - delicious!

One hint - if you're eating them at home, do warm them up in the microwave for a minute or so first, they go softer when they're heated and are easier to roll up.

Another option is to use a hot filling such as the one above or some chilli con carne, roll up the filling in tortillas then place in a baking dish. Pour over any leftover filling, top with lots of grated cheese and bake in the oven.

Griddled/chargrilled (or just plain old fried!) courgettes, onions and red peppers

top with grated cheese and sour cream, and a bit of chilli if you want/like

Fridge leftovers go in mine - ham, chicken, cucumber, tomato, peppers, lettuce, bit of mayonnaise and voila!

Chicken goujon thingies

My friend just gave me a load of wraps her DH doesn't like, and my shopping is coming tonight so don't have much to put in them. However, I do have some braising steak that I haven't used yet and won't until the winter now. Soooo....I'm doing some experimenting.

I'm going to make a tomatoey stew with onion, the steak, a tin of tomatoes, beef stock, seasoning - but no veg - and let it cool, and see what happens! It's in the cooker now. Have told DH to bring home some sour cream which I'll put some chives into. And we have salad stuff in our Riverford box, which came today.

I'll let you know if it works

hot idea:

Sloppy joes the easy way

fill with bolognese and grated cheese. Heat in the oven till cheese is melted, or assemple open and heat under a grill till cheese is melted and tehn roll up.

Similar can be done with chilli con carne (obviously)

Hot chicken idea:

Stir fry srips of chicken breast with garlic and paprika.

Add to wrap with finely shredded lettuce, tomatoes, sliced pickles and tahini sauce or yoghurt and ketchup if wanted.

Or add the cooked stir fried chicken to wrap with red peppers, loads of coriander leaves and sweet chilli sauce

COLD ideas:

Literally anything cooked and cold can be added to a wrap, salad stuff, raw veg, fruit, cheese, pulses, anything in a tin like tuna, chickpeas, mackrel, smoked salomn, olives, cold meats, humus, taramasalate, gentleman's relish, pickles, capers, lentils, eggs, the possibilities are endless.

I tend to just put lots of little bowls of fillings on the table and leave it to everyone to assemble their own with whatever they want. I'm always pleasantly surprised at how much salad DS piles into his

that will work flamingobingo, but how I'd serve wraps with a sloppy sauce like that is assemble them by putting a big dollod of the stew on a quarter of a wrap, top with grated cheese if you want, fold in half and then half again so you have a quarter circle shape, heat in the oven so the wrap goes crispy, and then serve with a knife and folk as it will be too messy to eat with fingers.

Chicken cut into strips and marinated in pesto (red pesto is particularly yummy), then grilled. Serve hot or cold with cream cheese or sour cream.

Sausages, either hot or cold. With tomato sauce and mustard added and my dts also like strips of red and orange peppers in there too.

salad cream has only two uses in this house..on a salad sandwich or in my chicken/apple combo. otherwise it is extra virgin olive oil & blasamic vinegar all the way

i am loving my new name. although posting on serious threads is a bit scary.

Wasabi, tuna and salad is a favourite of mine.

Or bean salad: mix some tinned beans/chickpeas together with grated cheese, carrot/cucumber/red pepper cut into tiny dice, olive oil, a splash of red wine vinegar, herbs, salt and pepper. Leave it for a while so the flavours can get friendly with each other, then pile into the wraps and, um, wrap.

Hummus with strips of roasted pepper is nice.

Quesadillas - Big Jamie O does a recipe but basically:

Smear a tortilla with a tomato based paste - I just use puree.
Sprinkle on finely chopped veg of choice - I use spring onion, peppers, mushrooms, broccoli - add a bit of bacon or chicken if you have some left over.
Cover with grated cheese. Bung a second tortilla on top. Dry fry in a hot frying pan until golden and crisp on both sides.
Scoff - with guacamole if you are organised.
