You can buy the piri-piri sauce...we sell it in our Sainsburys or Nandos sell it directly.

I don't know the recipe but I wouldn't mind finding out either!

We had Nandos yesterday- I lurve the chicken livers. And the chicken. And the periperi hummus and ...... well everything, really.

Greedy, much. grin

I would imagine if they do, then they are under a contract that if-they-tell-you-they'll-have-to-kill-you thing!

I think you just grill or roast your chicken once you've marinated it. I'd suggest quite a hot oven or grill.

I think Nando's is excellent value and fab for kids.

I do something similar at home with garlic and lemon juice and smoked paprika as a marinade for chicken pieces.

I'm a veggie and go to nando's loads because their rice and med salad (without chicken) is awesome!

I've heard good reports of Nando's but never eaten there.
Anyone know where their chickens come from?
Whereabouts on the happy - horribly abused scale of chicken production?

I would think they are all battery farmed tbh.

ruddynorah Sun 24-May-09 20:42:22

they are probably all birthed out of a can wink

Montifer Sun 24-May-09 20:57:25

Just had a look at their site and it looks like they are 'barn reared' so pretty bad but not as bad as battery hens.
Ruby - they've got info on their sauces and how they cook the chicken on there too (in contact us section)

janeite Sun 24-May-09 21:27:25

I think they are pretty unhappy chickens tbh.

Montifer Sun 24-May-09 22:36:15

yep, you're right janeite, barn reared is grim sad

Actually there was a program on a while ago and barn reared is better than some free range apparently, depending on the amount of hens in a particular space and their surroundings! - can't remember who was on it but I was quite suprised!

They're free range chickens I think, well looked after, allowed to grow up, and well fed (class A).

they have veggie options, beanie burgers & pittas, veggie burgers & pittas with chilli jam and a choice of extras like halloumi cheese & portobello mushroom. you can also get a halloumi and P.Mushroom wrap with special yogart-mayo sauce, or you coulld just have them on their own. Give em a try
