I think this is the same as ours- it's called "The Cranks Recipe Book" by David Canter, Kay Canter and Daphne Swan. Does that sound right? It's definitely brown and paperbacky.

I've just looked and it was 1982, but it does look as though it was the first ever- there's a load of intro stuff about whose father gave them the money to start the first restaurant and stuff. I would guess it corresponds to this , but ours has a load of quiches and nutloaves on the cover.

If you can remember the name of anything you cooked from it I can look it up in the index, would that help?

We have that one too and I'm sure its the one you're thinking of lisalisa - it is available used on amazon too. Its got things like lentil and cheese wedges, creamy potato soup, cranks nut roast etc etc.
Thinking about it we use it a lot

I've got "Entertaining with Cranks", first published in 1985 - brown cover, pictures of soup and quiches and other food on the front?

That sounds right, there is a ginger cake recipe, and all the sections you mention. Bet that's it

Mine in the new one, called "The Cranks Bible" by Nadine Abensur. It's very good.

Mine has no ginger cake recipe and no "smalls" section. "Cakes and biscuits" and "puddings and deserts" are together, like that.

We have Entertaining with Cranks too- it was published a few years after the Cranks Recipe Book and has slightly more fancy stuff in it, so I don't think they're just different versions at different times. I would try and get to a bookshop and have a flick through the one I linked to- I bet it's the same.

Here's the one I've been talking about, a bit cheaper than Amazon!

hey , have it anyway, sure if you end up having two you can post it back to me! I will post it tomorrow if you email me.
Funny it seems quite antique now! I used to squander many a happy hour in Cranks in soho when i was a student.!

I think with 6 bidders and several days to go you're bound to get outbid, so I wouldn't worry, but I would retract rather than just not paying, I think. I don't think anyone will take you to court!

You could always sell your duplicate on Ebay
