Quick question - which is hotter: red or green chillies?

My recipe calls for red chillies, I could only get green - should I use more or less than the recipe says?

I beg to differ pixie. Depends on the chillies (bit of a conoisseur doncha know.

I think it depends on the chili but I think red. Habeneros are the hottest.

Definatelt depends on the chillies. Doesn't really matter if they're red or green.

Just taste the chillies.Depends what you like. I always multiply by about 3 in any recipe anyway anyway as I lurve chillies. (We used to have them in the garden when growing up in the Pacific. There were a few dodgy incidents. Remember my sister organising a dolls' tea party with them and nearly blinding herself!)
The Caribbean bonnet peppers are the hottest I've tasted followed by the Thai bird's eye ones.

Yikes.
They're about 3 1/2 inches long, very dark green and the width of a very very fat finger, with a stalk on the end.

Turquoise....suspect they are 'learner' chillies () Hardly any zing. Bite em and see....

Hi - sorry, was looking at the aids thread.
Am cooking malaysian chicken curry (in mn recipes, I've done it before but had the 'right' chillies) yum yum.
Will bite and see once I've opened the wine in a minute!

im a chilli lover as love them and green are hotter than red..... the recipe soumds gorgeous..ill make that for this weekend (yum!)
