cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.com

I found this rather nice blog discussing the issue

I prefer the term Cupcakes myself. Fairy cakes are for fairies surely?

I fear I am a fairy.

Although, I am sure I may have called them Cupcakes also, or how else do I know that word.

They are very nice whatever they may be called.

cupcakes IMO have a deep layer of icing at the top.
Fairy cakes/butterfly cakes have a disc taken out and reinserted into buttercream like pretend wings.
Buns are sponge mixture in small cases.

and chocolate layered across them.

Buns are sticky with or without cream.

I must visit the bakers today.

No you can toast TEACAKES
they don't have white mallow, but I know the ones you mean. If you toasted those they'd make a mess of the toaster.

Biggestfirework - how do you toast them if they have mallow in the middle?

I'm with greyskull. Cupcakes are hideously sweet american things with too much icing (or frosting as they would say). What you are talking about is a bun.
