cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.com

I found this rather nice blog discussing the issue

I prefer the term Cupcakes myself. Fairy cakes are for fairies surely?

Waltzywotzy Tue 04-Nov-08 10:00:49

I can't debate on my own, i'm off.

BiggestFirework Tue 04-Nov-08 10:01:15

I fear I am a fairy.

Although, I am sure I may have called them Cupcakes also, or how else do I know that word.

<confused>

They are very nice whatever they may be called.

those are fairy cakes in my book

isaidno Tue 04-Nov-08 10:03:06

cupcakes are fairy cakes with posh icing on

boogeek Tue 04-Nov-08 10:04:30

Definitely fairy cakes

MaryAnnSingleton Tue 04-Nov-08 10:05:00

a cupcake has thick icing across the whole of the top of the cake...

Nbg Tue 04-Nov-08 10:07:16

Buns ffs.

BUNS!

BiggestFirework Tue 04-Nov-08 10:07:41

BUNS? shock

bythepowerofgreyskull Tue 04-Nov-08 10:07:59

cupcakes IMO have a deep layer of icing at the top.
Fairy cakes/butterfly cakes have a disc taken out and reinserted into buttercream like pretend wings.
Buns are sponge mixture in small cases.

MaryAnnSingleton Tue 04-Nov-08 10:10:46

no, buns are sticky things with currants in !

Waltzywotzy Tue 04-Nov-08 10:11:16

I tend to go along with that reasoning FWIW your cakes are lovely.......

bythepowerofgreyskull Tue 04-Nov-08 10:11:19

they are teacakes surely?

BiggestFirework Tue 04-Nov-08 10:11:41

Someone explains it nicely on the link. I still don't get it tbh. Fairy Fairy Fairy!!!!!!!

grin

Cupcakes have chocolate on top. Well my ones do anyway.

Waltzywotzy Tue 04-Nov-08 10:11:49

BUNS have to be sticky or else they are ROLLS

BiggestFirework Tue 04-Nov-08 10:12:10

Teacakes have mallow in the middle.

BiggestFirework Tue 04-Nov-08 10:13:25

and chocolate layered across them.

Buns are sticky with or without cream.

I must visit the bakers today.

Waltzywotzy Tue 04-Nov-08 10:13:26

No you can toast TEACAKES
they don't have white mallow, but I know the ones you mean. If you toasted those they'd make a mess of the toaster.

bythepowerofgreyskull Tue 04-Nov-08 10:13:50

thanks WW

Biggestfirework - how do you toast them if they have mallow in the middle?

Waltzywotzy Tue 04-Nov-08 10:14:22

I'm getting rather hungry now

MaryAnnSingleton Tue 04-Nov-08 10:15:11

teacakes aren't shiny like buns, though iced buns are a different plate of cake

Waltzywotzy Tue 04-Nov-08 10:19:19

Malt loaf, now is that cake or a loaf? I love it all the same with butter.

bythepowerofgreyskull Tue 04-Nov-08 10:30:10

MAS so are buns bread or sponge?

MaryAnnSingleton Tue 04-Nov-08 10:36:56

buns are bread I think...bythepowerofgreyskull -there's a little thread named for you if you take a look ...

Mummylinfawkesoff Tue 04-Nov-08 11:05:04
