I'm making a chocolate steamed pudding, what shall I put in the bottom of the bowl to be the sauce bit?

I've done the sponge.
I have no chocolate but plenty of cocoa powder. I'm thinking maybe golden syrup, cocoa powder.....and what?. Water? Cream? Nothing?

syrup / cocoa / butter / sugar / boiling water

Or leave it plain but serve with chocolate custard.... yum.
