Just a nice sponge with chocolate chips in please. I googled but I'm not using a packet mix hmm, I don't want to add banana or orange. I have chocolate chips by the truckload or Cadbury's chocolate chunks if that's any better...although they may get eaten by the cake maker if she has to be in the kitchen for too long... grin

If I don't hear back within the hour, I'm just going to make a sponge and throw some choccy in and you'll all be responsible for the consequences! grin

And will the chips sink to the bottom if I just bung them in?

TIA smile

You do just make a sponge and add choc chips!

They will, most likely, end up at the bottom. I'm not sure what the trick is tostop this - maybe add them to the plain mixture when it's in the tin so they start at thetop...

just add chips. They shouldn't all sink. Cherries don't sink in my cherry cakes.

OK, sponge cake avec choccy chips in oven. I await the results and the location of the chips. Otherwise I shall adopt HughJars' approach of dive bombing the mixture once it's in the tin!

Ta smile

Yeah, just drop a load in. Buns are better as they stick to the paper.

I have a field full of flour, the eggs of many hens (via Tesco), canes full of sugar and lorries full of choccy. If the cake doesn't turn out right buns are next grin. I am determined to turn up at choccy loving aunt's house tomorrow with something home made...

They sank. Still, it's unusual. Sponge cake with a rich chocolate base...

Trying one now with c chips sprinkled on top. Cue one sponge cake with a rich chocolate topping! grin

Chocolate chip cookies

150g SR flour
50g margarine
50g sugar
50g chocolate chips
1 egg
1 – 2 tbsp water

Method
Carefully weigh/measure flour into bowl. (6-rounded tbsp is about right).
Weigh margarine and add to bowl. Rub in as shown.
Stir in the sugar and chocolate chips.
Break egg into a small bowl and beat with a fork. wink
Add to mixture with just enough water to mix to a soft but not sticky dough.
Divide into 8 even sized pieces and place in rough heaps onto tray.smile

Bake Gas 6, electric 190*C for 12 – 15 minutes until golden brown. grin
