hi, i am a mum with a 16 months old who suffers from severe Diarreah (runny poo). While im putting this down to teething, was wandering if anyone could suggest certain foods to avoid, and/or to encourage to help the situation. My baby is quite weak at the moment due to lack of nutrients in his little system. Any advice would be appreciated.

too much sugar?

My lo gets the runs when she has too much sugary stuff over a short period. Say a couple of biccys or piece of cake or something along those lines will leave her like that for a couple of days unless it's spread out over the course of the day iyswim

no, am also trying to avoid sweet things. Giving lots of dried food such as toast and dried biscuits but still huge problems.

er, I don't know what to suggest then. Is he getting plenty of fluids so he doesn't get dehydrated?

(supid question, sorry)

Maybe ring HV or GP in morning see if they have anything to suggest that may help you?

This page may be of some use unless you've already been through these things yourself

If you scroll about half way down the page it says something about reducing amounts of drinks given to the child if they drink a lot, giving more full fat foods & giving them less wholemeal bread/pasta etc

This one too although they all seem to say if the toddler or baby has had diarrhoea more than 48 hrs to take them to Dr so they can advise about whether to give meds or not.

Sorry no to be of any real use to you, hope your lo is well again soon

I was told bananas are good fruit to give for dioarrhea (sp?!) if you're giving him some (which I guess he needs for vitamins) as it 'binds' everything together. Also was told to avoid citrus/orange juice/dried fruit, obviously...
