bananas, grapes, pears, apples, pinapples, raisins..she munches through the lot and im quite happy to let her. within reason.id rather she get her sweet fix from fruit rather than sweets or choc(although the little minx would also wolf them down too!)

This makes me feel much better!! He's had such a sore bum for days now and I was worried that it was the fruit was making him poo too much! (not a very nice subject!) Nobody I have spoken to knows how much is too much!!

How do you do it? my dd is 13 months and only eats banana if it's on toast. She hates puree, chunks, slices, sticks...etc......

ds eats loads of fruit. i once asked the doctor(when we were there for another reason) if there was such a thing as too much fruit and he said absolutely not!!

I think if they just have 1 portion of each thing that's OK - if they had eg 5 oranges or 5 apples that wouldn't be good.

Hasn't the 5-a-day thing been upgraded to 7-a-day or more? It sounds wonderful to me, wish my kids would eat that much fruit!

I struggle with any other type of fruit on my 15th old have to say.
Maybe I should disguise it in his yoghury or something?

Jan why would lots of portions of one thing be bad? I ask because we seem to be in a 5 satsuma, 3 plums, banana, raisins and an apple phase at the moment

I do know kids who don't eat any fruit so I shouldn't moan really, he just loves it, on the way home from nursery all he says is 'balala'!! his lovely word for banana!! I will start to do the shopping from the far end of the shop next time and put the fruit in last though as he had nearly eaten all the grapes before I paid for them and was having tantrums because I wouldn't give him anymore!!!

My DS (2) is just developing a fad about veggies but loves fruit so I leave the fruit bowl well in reach and he just helps himself. It varies from day to day but he eats well this way.

becca, DD2 (who is in late teens, not a toddler!) went through a phase of eating 3 apples, 4 satsumas etc and it definitely upset her digestion - I thought I remembered reading at the time that it was ketosis (like when you fast) but can't find anything about it now on google.

2 satsumas is a portion in the 5-a-day thing and you're not meant to have more than one portion of the same variety are you? (Or are you? Who knows!)

ERK - think you may have hit on something there jan. he is very, very regular to the point he has about 4 or 5 poos a day and has never, ever had a solidish type poo - they are still consistency of newborn poos (he is 18 mths)

Today he has very sore bum and his poo seems a bit mucousy - could this be linkeD?

Sorry this is disgusting but I'm reeling a bit from the thought I might be giving him TOO much fruit. Ive been basking in good mother proudness that he will be brimming with vits!

I recall now earlier today and yesterday he had a poo that had undigested satsuma in - just mentioned it to DP and he said that yesterday he sicked up a bit and there was a segment of orange undigested.

OMG HAVE I BEEN JUST LITERALLY FILLING HIM FULL OF IT AND HIS BODY CAN'T DEAL WITH IT!!

Its just so cute when he says "More more more more more more"

Does he eat much bread/potato/pasta, becca?

Lots of fruit isn't bad in itself (and much better than sweets/fats/turkey twizzlers!) but if he's eating it at the expense of carbohydrates you should probably cut it back a bit - but please don't feel bad! He is getting loads of vits and fibre!

Bubu and Peckarollover, my dd (4) eats VAST amounts of fruit (like me-must have about 12 portions of fruit&veg a day because I like 'em!!)

Sometimes (no, make that nearly always) she poos a few times a day. Doesn't bother me. It's good to keep things moving instead of being all stored up and festering in the colon. Yuck!!!

He eats generally very well although thinking about it isnt a fan of bread much (like his sister)

He eats lots of pasta, cous cous, potatoes, rice though

His all time favourite is a proper roast dinner, chicken curry and cous cous, tuna pasta, spag bol etc (its not coincidence that this is about my limits when it comes to cooking so I rotate it all the time!)

Of all food groups though he definitely has way more fruit than anything else..........will limit it but feel a bit reluctant to.

Please someone, what on earth is a turkey twizzler?!

5 satsumas is possibly a bit OTT - limit him to 2/3 maybe? An extra banana might slow things down a little...the undigested satsuma is probably only because he hasn't got enough teeth to give them a good chew yet. He sounds like a fab little eater

Oh, moondog, you don't want to know!

Are you still over here? It's in that Jamie Oliver school dinners prog - one of the disgusting things offered before he stepped in. From Bernard Matthews I think. Ugh.
