And how long do they last after you make them (providing they are not eaten)? And would you like to give me your recipes?

I was planning on making:

Tablet
Peppermint creams
Toffee (do I need a sugar thermometer?
Fudge

Any other suggestions?

I tried making fudge it didn't work too well.

I have tried making nigella's honeycombe (hokey pokey she calls it), which is lovely and really simple:

100g caster sugar
4 x tablespoons golden syrup
1.5 tsp bicarb

mix the caster sugar and syrup together whilst cold, i used a non stick frying pan to make mine in. Then put the heat on, but don't stir. Let it bubble and turn golden, after about 3 minutes take off the heat and whisk in the bicarb, it will bubble up, immediately pour on to grease proof paper (she says greased foil, which i did and it stuck and i ended up peeling off bits of foil).
I dipped mine in to melted chocolate, which was lovely!

yy, how long does it all last for? What is best way to store these treats?
The trouble with home made edible pressies is you ahve to do everything in the week before?

Traditional fudge is so tricky to get right. Last year I made 5 batches and one 1 of them set right.

I have since found a chocolate type fudge (Nigella's), that is really easy. Just melting stuff, and then putting it in the fridge.

There is also a new toffee type recipe in the new Nigella's Christmas book.

If you want the recipes for either, let me know.

I posted the Tablet recipe I use on recipes thread yesterday - I make it the week before CHristmas and if it is not eaten within 24 hours in our house we then package it up in little boxes for presents.

dd1's most recent girly crappy comic has a recipe for coconut ices.

line square cake tin with baking paper

In a large bowl mix 1 375g tin of condensed milk with 500g icing sugar and 350g dessicated coconut to form stiff mixture.

Divide mixture in half. Using your hands press half the mixture into the cake tin.

Knead remaining mix with a few drops of pink food colouring. Press this layer of the white layer and put in fridge untill set.

Cut into squares.

I am not sure about the honeycombe, but I wouldn't keep for longer than a week tbh, although it wouldn't last that long in our house

All sounds good, thanks. Will add coconut ices to the list.
