Ya see, I don't think so! I reckon there are loads of MNers who say on a thread 'oh no, I don't let my children eat Greggs', but really they do!grin

Bad weather?
More likely those dodgy TV ads.

Carmenere Thu 09-Oct-08 20:25:14

I would say their dire advertising campaign might have something to do with it.

Yes those dodgy ads take some beating...but I lurve their chicken and mango sarnie.

TeenyTinyTorya Thu 09-Oct-08 20:28:35

I like their sandwiches (and chocolate muffins grin) but genuinely wouldn't give ds a sausage roll to munch on.

MOrticiaAdams Thu 09-Oct-08 20:33:18

They are lovely!!! You don't know what you're missing! Its something you've just gotta try in your life! grin

Nappyzoneneedssleep Thu 09-Oct-08 20:36:58

Whats wrong with those scrummy sausage rolls mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

captainofthemummies Thu 09-Oct-08 20:37:27

There used to be a pie-shop in salisbury that sold cheese-and-onion-and-potato pies, and curry slices. Greggs don't.

I miss them...

Hassled Thu 09-Oct-08 20:39:38

The whole Gregs thing has always gone straight over my head - I live in a part of the country (apparently the only part of teh country) where there is no Greggs. I will never be able to pass judgement on the quality of their sausage rolls and feel robbed, frankly.

MOrticiaAdams Thu 09-Oct-08 20:43:58

Aw, Hassled! That's sad! You won't know about their Steak Bakes either then? They're mighty fine too! grin

NappiesLaGore Thu 09-Oct-08 20:46:41

me too hassled. <shrugs>

Hassled there's no Greggs around here either

I do lurve a good sausage roll though <drool>

AMumInScotland Thu 09-Oct-08 20:49:44

And chicken bakes....mmmm....chicken bakes....

Overmydeadbody Thu 09-Oct-08 20:49:46

yes quite, Malory.

I have bought some green ones instead.

Hassled Thu 09-Oct-08 20:51:48

Good to know I'm not alone - but if I ever see a Greggs I will be in there eating sausage rolls before you can say "cholesterol" .

SnoopDog Thu 09-Oct-08 20:52:38

has anyone read the comments at the bottom of the article?

this one made me chuckle,

No wonder...they should call em grease rolls instead of sausage rolls! Not a healthy thing inside the shop. I'm fussy about what I put in my cakey hole! I'd rather eat dog turd, it least it maight have some vitamins in it.

and this is a gem,

Their profits are down because their shop assistants stand with one finger picking their nose and another scratching their ass before they serve you.

random Thu 09-Oct-08 20:54:59

Could just eat a steak bake mmmmmm

suedonim Thu 09-Oct-08 21:05:03

I used to feel like you, Hassled. I had no clue what all this Gregg's stuff on MN was about. But over the summer I went to Perth in Scotland, a town I know well, and there in the High St was a new shop called Gregg's. 'What's this, then?' I said to myself, going over for a gander. 'Ah, it's got cakes and bread in, must be a baker's, that's nice.' Then &~#~**OMG**~#~& Baker's!!!! Gregg's!!!!! I bet it's a sausage roll shop!!! At last!!! I can hold my head up high on MN!!! I too have seen a Gregg's! But they didn't seem to actually have any sausage rolls. Maybe they'd sold out over lunch. grin

MOrticiaAdams Thu 09-Oct-08 21:08:05

Oh, who cares about vitamins! Greggs is loverly!!!!grin

TeenyTinyTorya Thu 09-Oct-08 22:50:00

I think the sausage rolls are soggy and horrible actually. I do love the treacle scones though - can you tell I have a sweet tooth lol!
