If your child has school dinners do you still give them a hot meal in the evening?
My ds started school dinners this week. I have been to help him and he eats ok if I choose his meal for him. Hes a bit fussy so I'm a bit worried when he has to do it on his own next week iyswim?

DS has had school dinners since reception - now yr 2 and I rarely give him another dinner in teh evening. I do vary what he has by what he tells me he has eaten at school, so something abit more substantial if it isn't one of his favourites. DD has just started reception and is a very fussy eater. I really want her to have school meals, as especially in teh winter I think it is good for them to have something hot. So far (and it has only been 3 days) she has eaten a greater variety of food than she has ever done. I know if she hasn't eaten because he gets really bad tempered, so hopefully it will work. Again she will just have tea in teh evening. This also works as DH doesn't get in til quite late so I ould have to cook twice, rahter than all eat together.

Same sort of thing here Seeline. ds will have something hot at school while dh,ds4 and 5 will hvae something hot lunch time at home because dh goes to work at 3 so then I'll do a sandwich in the evening and that way weve all had something hot to eat.
lal123 why only some days for school dinners?
