Help ! What can I use instead of syrup?

I am making cornflake tart out of The Dinner Lady book & have just realised that I haven't gor any syrup. I only need 1oz, would it matter if I left it out do you think ? hmm

What kind of syrup are you talking about? Golden syrup?

Honey sometimes makes things go runny and doesn't set, so I'd be wary of that, how about melting some sugar?

I do have runny honey I could use.

It is golden syrup I need, I have never melted sugar on it's own. Thick question but do I just put it in a saucepan & heat?

I melted a bit of sugar & added some honey & it was lovely smile
