Do i just parboil and shove in the oven for 30 minutes?

dh does them just like the spuds as you describe

Majeika Sun 21-Sep-08 11:16:08

yep! with a touch of honey if you like honeyed parsnips!

compo Sun 21-Sep-08 11:16:49

ooh thanks
dh bought too many so they need eating up

I don't even bother to par-boil them. Just roast in the oven, first 20 minutes covered in foil, then uncovered with a drizzle of honey.

how long for?

I steam them over the potatoes, then put them in a bowl with some olive oil and give tham a good rummage to cover. Then I either sprinkle in a little plain flour - to give a sort of nice crust.Bung in oven.

Don't cut them too thin otherwise they just go hard and over crisp.

Less time than the potatoes - say 30 minutes

brilliant, thanks all smile

i dont par boil, just do with potatoes, and if you have plenty of oil they are delicious, but mine tend to burn quite easily so i have to keep an eagle eye on them.

just told dh to go out to get honey with rest of shopping - his response 'won't marmalade do?'
men eh?!

Overmydeadbody Sun 21-Sep-08 11:55:34

marmalade would work actually. So would apricot jam.

compo Sun 21-Sep-08 11:57:40

really any old maramlade? (he's not back yet so might have to)

RupertTheBear Sun 21-Sep-08 12:00:33

I don't par boil- just bung in with the potatoes (which I do par boil) I like them a bit burnt - they go lovely and sweet. I don't buy parsnips at this time of year though - I leave it until after the first frost.

Well, yes! You'll have parsnips with a hint of orange flavour, that's all.
