Help me with veggie and fish packed lunch ideas

With a sinking heart I am moving ds 5 from school dinners to packed lunches. Have just had the menus home for this term and the veggie options are dreadful. none of us eat meat but we do eat fish - ds isn't allowed the fish options from the menu though as he is listed as veggie.

So I am looking for ideas. When he last took packed lunches I had to make him egg sarnies every time - luckily that was just two days a week. He can't eat egg EVERY DAY.

A quick query also - thought about getting him a flask and sending soup but is this a good idea? He's in reception - not sure whether this would be seen as a bit dangerous!

will he eat tuna pasta salad? or tuna sandwiches/tortillas? can you make veggie kebabs with dips,my daughter loves eating tinned calamari in sauce or those other tinned fish from lidl that come in sauces , make up dips with breadticks, bread rolls etc..

What else does he like? Off the top of my head I am thinking marmite, cheese (soft and hard). Annabel Karmel suggest cream cheese mixed with roasted veges etc, sometimes added grated apple etc into sandwiches makes a change./ You couls also change the bread, e.g. mimi pittas, rolls, muffins etc. Does he like cold (but cooked)pizzas? Samosas/cheese onion rolls, vege sausages? Dips with carrot/vege sticks? cold pasta salad/rice salads (maybe in the summer)

Do any of the other children have soup? I personally wouldn't because I think it could be dangerous, probably not so much your son but others around him, and depending on the lunchtime helpers, there may not be someone there to help him pour it/supervise it if it's hot.

Cheese and coleslaw rolls.

DD likes to take snadwiches with cheese or smoked salmon, pasta salads, cou-cous salads, rice salads.

Wouldn't feel very confident about hot soup TBH and peanut butter is a no-no at our school because of nut allergies.

Great ideas - keep them coming. Sadly he hates marmite and peanut butter (and nuts not allowed at school). Not sure he'd go for pasta salads but will try it. Loves rice, couscous and all that.

Tinned calamari bambi06? I'm impressed!

Couldn't he have egg every day? It's very nutritious! There isn't anything wrong with an egg a day, they've decided they were wrong about the cholesterol IIRC. My veggie ds takes peanut butter sandwiches (I know, no good to you), apple, satsuma, banana, nuts (pistachio/cashew) and 2 yoghurts. Sometimes I put chocolate in (not often), sometimes a piece of cucumber or strawberries or grapes.
