Whilst the house is quiet am making a apple & blackberry crumble and just realised I have no demerara sugar - can I use normal sugar or golden caster sugar? (have 4 bags of that!)Thanks
You can use any kind of sugar you like.
any sugar - I like to use demerara - but the other day (like you) I was making apple and blackbery crumble and just ordinary sugar.
I always use boring white granulated.
Any sugar will do. Demerara just gives a bit of extra crunch to the topping.I am just about to make a rhubarb crumble with boring old ordinary sugar
never used demerera - sounds nice though! Just use bog standard granulated and a little bit of cinnamon if its an apple crumble.
cheapest will do fine
Oh use up the golden caster if you have tons of that, it wont hurt.
brill, thank you
