I Luuurrvvve Eton Mess.

Except I had it in a poncy restaurant once...and tehy just didn't make it messy enough.

They got a huge margarita style glass. Stuck 2 strawberries in the bottom. plonked the cream on top. and then put 2 nice neat spherical meringue thingies (still intact - not crushed) on top.

It was far too sickly. The cream was too much "on its own". There was no coolie stuff. Just 2 strawberries. It was a bad experience.

It is actually something which my works canteen can do well - given that it works best when it is literally thrown together.

actually eton mess is just what you do if your meringue doesn't work.
my meringue always works so i'd do a proper pavlova. but then i am a domestic goddess.
