dairy free cake????

Is there such a thing as a dairy free cake?
A friend of mine can't eat any dairy but when all of us girls get together I normally bake a cake.

So I would like to bake something that she can have too but have no idea what.

Any recipes/linkies please?

Use Pure or Vitalite Marg as its Dairy Free, and Soya Milk if milk is required.

Yes! Fantastic recipe if you like chocolate gooiness. Email me at [email protected] and I'll scan it in and send to you.

BTW - you're a lovely friend for thinking of her

My mum has a nice recipe for a dairy free cake that uses olive oil instead of butter (but not the extra virgin kind though as then the flavour is too strong) and lemon which fits well with the slight olive oil taste. Will probably phone her tonight anyway, so can ask for the recipe if you like?

My DD is allergic to milk. As long as she's OK with eggs, you can just substitute Vitalite or another dairy free margarine for the butter. It turns out fine

You can make a chocolate sponge using cocoa powder in lieu of 30g SR flour, and Trex instead of butter. If you need liquid to thin out the batter, add a few ml of orange or apple juice.
