ok, so I stewed my 2 apples in a couple of teaspoons of water & have been watching but they ended up burnt and not very edible, do I need to add more water as it evaporates to stop them from burning?

I do mine in the microwave. Solves the problem! And add a dash of Calvados - yum.

still with just a little bit of water MummyDoIt ? and for how long?

I'll probably end up using as many apples attempting it as a jar from the shops would have cost but am determined to learn!

what's Calvados?

Yes, just a bit of water. I usually do two apples for about three minutes but it will depend on your microwave. I add a teaspoon of sugar too, then drain off the water and puree the apples.

Oh, and Calvados is an apple-based liqueur. Bit like brandy. Gives it a nice kick (but only for grown-ups!).

right, will give microwave a go then, fingers crossed.

unfortunately lo is eating with us and we don't have any Calvados as I'd never heard of it before but it sounds like something I'd like! may be investing in some
