Impressive but surprisingly easy dishes to make
I normally use butter/flour to make a roux then add milkBut can you do it with olive oil?
Shouldn't think so.
Yes and I find it easier than using butter. Ends up less lumpy for me
I sit corrected.
Hmm - DD & I may experimentShe is learning to do a roux, but DH is on a low cholesterol diet so if we can do it with Olive Oil that would be goodQuiche is next week-ends learning experiment
Yes, better with cheap Olive Oil rather than the good stuff with a strong taste, unless you want your white sauce to be overwhemingly olivey
Wow - that's worth knowing. I will try it too. Thank you. Love to know how you're going to make a low cholesterol quiche
UmmNo ideaBut I think pastry making is an important pat of a cooks repertoire but I am worrying about teaching her puff & rough puff (primarily because I'm not sure I can remember) She can already do choux pastry - so shortcrust is next
