I defrosted a lamb stew and added it to a vegetable soup. All thoroughly re-cooked. Can I now freeze the soup?

I think no as the lamb was already cooked-frozen-defrosted-warmed when you added it to the soup.
But then I never really understand these things.

Yeah i had a feeling that was a rule but i don't understand why. Much too much soup to eat today!

biglips Sat 09-Aug-08 08:35:06

no as you cannot refreeze it once youve defrosted it.

alittleteapot Sat 09-Aug-08 08:37:45

ok. thanks. know why?

Can I at least re-heat? I made it last night but was going to eat today... [bit worried emoticon]

No you can't reheat either.

The lamb stew was cooked.

The soup was reheated.

You are not allowed to reheat again.

DontNeedAnything Sat 09-Aug-08 08:51:02

(sorry when I say "not allowed" that makes me sound like a teacher...I mean that the guidlines say no)

alittleteapot Sat 09-Aug-08 08:55:42

so i have t chuck my soup away?

DontNeedAnything Sat 09-Aug-08 09:03:32

I would...but then I wouldn't have made it in the first place as I can't stand lamb.

But seriously the guidlines are to only reheat once...which you did when you prepared the soup.

how did i get to mid-30s and still not know this stuff?

Guidelines are probably not to, but to be honest, I personally would for myself and DH, but not for DC. But that would be your discision as to if you take the risk. Dont hold me responsiable! lol
