Help help, cake alert! Someone please advise!

I'm baking a birthday cake for dh - recipe states the mixture is to be divided between 2 tins, but I've only got one tin so have put it all in that. Ho much longer should it take to bake? Has already been in for 10 mins over the 20 mins in original recipe and is still uncooked in middle. PLEASE help me avoid yet another baking disaster (my baking always seems to end in disaster!!) Thank you!

am not sure - perhaps another 10 mins and then test again

if it looks like it is getting too brown on top because of the xtra cooking, cover it is foil so it will carry on cooking but won't burn

What temp are you cooking it on??

Maybe worth turning the oven down a little, so it cooks all the way through.

Thanks ruby, have taken it out now and it seems fine, if a bit flat! i'm sure it willtaste fine slathered in icing!
