NOT cherry bakewells - we called them Jammy Buns. They were basically very simple Maid of Honour cakes - bottom made of pastry cut out with a cutter, then a blob of jam, then cake mix on the top. All baked together, no blind baking.Any ideas? TIA
I made something similar just over a week ago, but the top was coconutty, not cake like. Any good?
I do these, mini ground almond tarts but it is basically a bakewell tart recipe I adapted, pastry case bottom, teaspoon of jam, and then topping of4oz ground almond4oz caster sugar2oz butter softened2 beaten eggs1/4 tsp almond essence (think I use more)Beat the filling together and then spoon over jam cases, this quantity should make 24 tartsBake at about 180/190 for 15-20 mins till pale golden on top, bit of icing sugar sieved on top to serveCant remember exactly the temperature and times as I adapt a full size tart recipe for this but I think it is about right,....let me know if any problems...
